The young Miss Teen US Latina Pageant had its debut in Riviera Maya (Cancun), Mexico in 2003, produced as part of the
long-running annual Miss Latina US Pageant. (See Miss Latina History.)
The beautiful Edshelee Torres of Florida made history by becoming the first Miss Teen US Latina. Back-to-back winners
from Ilinois followed with Michelle Gonzalez in 2004, crowned in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and Geysha Gonzalez
(no relation) in 2005, once again in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
In 2006 these national Latina pageants were brought back to the United States and Springfield, Massachusetts saw Karla
Acosta of Florida take the crown. The postponement of the 2007 pageant resulted in the designation by executive board
decision of Texan Nicole Korrody as that year's title winner from among all eligible 2006 pageant participants.
San Antonio hosted the 2008 event that saw the repeat of back-to-back winners with the crowning of Marissa Castro from
El Paso in her home state by hometown girl Nicole.
The first teen ever chosen in the Miss Latin America Pageant network was also from Florida, Kristine Taranco, Miss Teen
